Long Live Nokia...

Long Live Nokia…….

God must be really really pleased with the mobile phone company Nokia (in hindi, its No-Kiya….Not Done)…think what you want to, but for me, it’s more of a companion than a item. Being a NoKi(y)a, God must have given him a blessing that it will be long living, God please accept my Heartfelt thanks for that.

As I mentioned before, Bill Bryson made me a walk-a-holic and that consists walking to everyplace that is worth walking. Hence I usually walk to my college, and walk back also.

In Mumbai I had already lost the “Made for India 1108”, cell phone once, believe me it was no fault of mine. And to my pleasure my parents got me the same phone just an hour before I headed for Tadoba Forest Reserve. The only thing that I got besides that from my parents was an hour long lecture about how careless I am, as if they never shout from the parking , asking me to get their mobile, left at the table.. That’s the only mobile I am ever capable of taking care of, so its like meeting the same friend you dated 20yrs back…. So then, me and my walking buddy spend almost 23 hours together, considering an hour for my daily rainfall and bowel movements.

So for the last 6 months we are together, I go for my usual walk to fergusson college. You just need to cross I major road and then its almost a 5 km walk. That day I left my little room, with the hope of walking fast and reaching early, to the place I liked the most, the studio. I crossed two small by-lanes and was started to cross the third when, I felt something move around my pocket area…..and before I could react, my cell jumped of from my pocket and fell , and just like a ping pong ball, bounced twice before it decided that it was far too much effort to jump on the tarmac. All was well till then, a collegiate, just like me….scratch that….just unlike me on a Kinetic Honda (how I hate vehicles.), rode right over it. Seeing your friend stampeded by an elephant was no more an ant bite than considering the fact that I wouldn’t get a mobile again.

So to see if it was worth going to the mech, I ran and picked it up. And to my immense surprise, my little Garfield friend was still giving me a thumb’s up like always. Even though it was bruised and scratched , it didn’t want me to be sad.

So, that’s why, I still sleep with that friend of mine, with the fun of knowing that it will guide me through the world of darkness and be there for me. Oh! Forgot to tell you it has a torch…
